Matthew Warchus studied music and drama at Bristol University. He has directed for the National Youth Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, Donmar Warehouse, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre, Opera North, Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, West Yorkshire Playhouse, West End and Broadway.

Theatre: Productions include: Our House (Cambridge Theatre - Laurence Olivier award for Best Musical); The Winter's Tale (RSC Stratford and at the Roundhouse); Follies (Broadway); Life x 3 (Royal National Theatre, Old Vic, UK tour and Broadway); True West (Donmar Warehouse and Broadway); The Unexpected Man, (RSC, West End and Broadway); Art (West End and Broadway - Tony award for Best Play); Volpone (Royal National Theatre); Hamlet, The Devil Is An Ass, Henry V (RSC); The Life of Stuff (Donmar Warehouse); The Plough and the Stars, Betrayal, Peter Pan, Death of A Salesman, Life Is A Dream (West Yorkshire Playhouse); Much Ado About Nothing (West End); The Suicide, Coriolanus (National Youth Theatre); Sejanus: His Fall (Edinburgh).
